Carmen Gil-Bonachera Martínez was born on the Cadiz coast, and although she now lives in a town in Huelva, she always finds some time to spend with the sea. She has been teaching and writing for children for many years. For them and with them, he has done a little bit of everything: theater, puppets, storytelling, world dance workshops ... and even some magic! But what he likes the most is playing with words. Her passion for poetry made her create Cosicosas, a digital magazine of Children's Poetry for all children in Spanish-speaking countries.- What prompted you to launch Cosicosas? The scarce presence of children's poetry on the Internet and the inferiority of conditions in which this genre finds itself with respect to narrative within the Spanish publishing scene.- It seems that, happily, poetry found a place on the Internet. How is it different Cosicosas from other pages?Mainly in that it offers poems by the best authors of children's poetry in the Spanish language and that, in addition, it does so with the consent and support of said authors. There are poems by writers from various countries such as Spain, Argentina, Ecuador, and Venezuela.- In your opinion, what does poetry bring to children?Poetry contributes to an artistic education, develops aesthetic sensibility, enriches vocabulary and expression, provides a new way of looking at the world, encourages children's fantasy and imagination.- How to start a child in the poetic world? What would you say to the parents and teachers who are in this work?In a spontaneous and simple way: reading them poems at bedtime or when they get home from school, putting poetry books at their fingertips, listening with them to songs like those of María Elena Walsh, which are music poems ... There are also lots of fun activities to play with poems at school or in a workshop, like the ones I collect in my book Let's play with poems !, published by CCS.- Writing for children is not an easy task. What tools do you use to seduce young readers? The truth is that I am not aware of using any tool. Well yes, maybe one: enjoy as much as possible. If I am having fun writing a book, chances are that children will also have fun reading it.- What advice would you give to parents and / or children who are attracted to writing?I think that to be a good writer, you first have to be a good reader. At least that's how it was in my case. I came to writing because of the passion that books aroused in me. I have also always loved children. For this reason, in children's literature I combined my two vocations.- You are a versatile writer. Stories, lots of books, theater, puppets, poetry, teaching, reading animation, magic workshops ... Is there still something to do?I just started! It was barely three years since they published my first book, so imagine if I have things to do. The first one: to publish a youth novel commissioned by a publishing house a few months ago. I just finished it. Let's see how ...- At what point did poetry burst into his life. Do you have any poetry that has marked your love for poetry?I remember a poem with special affection: “Sonatina”, by Rubén Darío, and later, at the institute, a collection of poems by Lorenzo Saval entitled The calendar maker, published by Litoral. Cosicosas know the publications of Carmen Gil signed copies at the Madrid Book Fair:

Everyone has a different sense of humor. Manufacturers, however, stand up to the challenge, offering clothing for the child, which can meet the expectations of a more conservative parent and this definitely "laid back".

Which of the following suggestions do you like?

And everyone is happy ...

Slow parenting or slow parenting. Keys to simmering

When was the last time you watched a sunset? When was the last time a five-minute conversation turned into a two-hour one? When was the last time you narrated a story to your children with complete calm and without haste? Has it ever happened to you to feel that you do not control time but that time has full control of you?

We are invested in a culture that pays tribute to the fast, to the easy, moving away from the enjoyment and joy that is being able to perform each action in a slow way, such as enjoying each bite of your favorite food or sitting for hours watching how they play your children without checking the computer or cell phone. This is what the Slow crianza or Slow partenting, a model of simmering.

She reflected, has footholds in the Slow movement, which was born as a counter response to the opening of a McDonald's in Piazza di Spagna in the city of Rome, thus creating the organization Slow food, oriented to the recovery of the cultural roots of Italian food, where the pleasure of eating without haste was prioritized. This cultural current focuses on calming or relentecer human activities to be able to control time and savor life.

This slow movement was expanding the horizons reaching areas such as clothing, tourism, cities and Slow parenting. I want to refer to the latter given its vast wealth to learn to calm down and be surprised by the adventure of being parents.

When we manage to stop the rush in parenting, innate skills emerge in the bond with our children, which are related to intuition and empathy. And this is necessary because we want to savor life by connecting with the present by focusing attention on the everyday experiences of others within the here and now.

- Avoid comparison: many parents tend to compare their children with other children, however, this is a mistake since it can directly affect self-esteem and security. Do not forget that each child is different and has a different rate of development.

- Do not overstimulate children: early stimulation is all the rage. Although it has undeniable benefits, it also has the danger of overstimulating and not learning to read the educational needs that children present in those areas that have weaknesses or that require greater help. This is more graphic by giving us this example: If the trees are put more water than they need, their roots are likely to rot.

- Do not rush development in children: The invitation is to learn to surprise ourselves with the achievements that our children are acquiring and not to become anxious about what they cannot yet achieve, experiencing development as a marathon race. It is necessary to respect the growth rate, because development is not a linear process, but rather a spiral one. This means that sometimes children will go backward in the course of development in order to move forward. For example, to walk it is necessary to crawl, but even when they have already started to walk, they sometimes crawl again; because they need to seek security in the actions that bring them security.

- Learn to flow. Positive psychology investigated the mental state when a person is completely immersed in the activity they perform, which I call under the concept of Flow, in which it consists of completely losing the notion of time and the process of the activity prevails more than the objective. It was found that the more flow activities, the people increased their state of satisfaction and happiness. During parenting it is essential to be able to discover what actions make you flow, this time being crucial to relax and avoid stressing ourselves with the tasks of parenting. It can be jogging, cooking, painting, drawing, riding a bike. The possibilities are endless!

- Disconnect from technology: While you are with your children, forget about the mobile phone, the computer, the email and the television. Learn to melt into "being receptive" for your child. This means being able to grasp the subtleties of your accomplishments as well as the skills that need further stimulation. In this way, it will be easier for you to get to know him, as well as help him manage his negative emotions.

- Build a journal of serenity: it is essential to calm down to calm down. From this premise, it is crucial to manage strategies that as parents help us to know how to deal with concerns. From this perspective, being able to make this diary allows us to give ourselves a time of serenity and calm. The idea is to be able to record all our fears and worries, so that later we can find an hour a day to read and think about them. In this way, by dedicating a limited time to them during the day, they will stop being fuzzy thoughts and thus increase well-being and creativity to be able to solve them.

But remember the following before starting any of these tips. It is important that you want to contemplate a sunset again, or have that talk for more than five minutes or want - definitely - to stop being a slave of time and feel free if it consumes your present. What the Slow Crianza movement seeks is that you once again feel what it means to live again and see how your child enjoys this fact with you and those close to you.

Artificial bedding can help premature babies

Clogged nose in babies and children is a very uncomfortable cold, flu or allergy symptom. Nasal congestion prevents the baby from breathing freely, causing him to breathe on his mouth and causing him sore throat, mouth drying, but especially the impossibility of resting at night.

The best tricks and methods of getting rid of the nose without using medication

Humidification of air

Humidification of the air is the most used method of dismantling the nose when blocking the nasal pathways is caused by the too dry air in the rooms where the child is sitting.

The hot air vaporizer or air humidifier creates a level of humidity that is conducive to your baby's breathing.

Instillations with saline

Put in a syringe physiological serum and drop the baby in the nostrils 1-2 drops to moisten the mucous membranes and to be easier to suck. Use a syringe with no needle or nose pump to aspirate the nasal secretions.

Extraction of nasal mucositis with syringe

The syringe can be a real help in getting rid of the little ones nose. It has a multiple role: it also helps to put saline drops or physiological saline in the nose and also has the function of extracting the nasal secretions. Use rubber syringes to aspirate the baby's mucus.

Read the article "Breathing the nose in babies" and learn the steps you need to follow when you want to use the syringe.

Sleep pillow

Babies can only use the pillow after 2 years, experts say. At this age you can use the baby pillow to undo the baby's nasal pathways and to help him sleep better.

The pillow helps the child to hold his head a little higher than the rest of the body and prevent the nose from clogging. The mucus is removed outside the nose and no longer moves inside the airway causing difficulties in the baby's sleep.

Suction with nose pump

Nasal pumps are special devices for extracting mucus from the baby's nose.

The little ones are not able to blow their nose when it is full of mucus, so a tool is needed to help extract them. For this purpose the nasal suction pumps have been created which can be found in all specialty stores.

Steam bath

Let go of hot water in the bathroom and close the door! Let enough steam! Then go inside with the baby and let the vapors melt the little boy's nose. Attention, do not stay long, so as not to create respiratory problems of the baby.

A few drops of eucalyptus oil placed in the water in which you make a bath can help break the nose of children. Also, lubricating a portion of the child's skin with this oil can emit vapors that help the airways to release. Do not use eucalyptus oil in areas where the baby may be prying.

Saline drops

Because babies are not allowed to use nose-numbing drugs, saline drops can also be prepared in the home by water and salt and can be placed in the nostrils to moisten hardened nasal secretions. In this way, the airways of the child are released.

You have to hold the baby with your head between your legs, talk to him all the time to capture his attention and to move as little as possible and you can pour them with a 1/2-drop pipette into each nostril, holding it for a few seconds with your head. bent a little below. After the secretions have moistened and soaked it is advisable to use a syringe or nasal pump to extract the secretions.

Reasons why babies can have their noses clogged

Babies under the age of 3 months may have a stuffy nose all the time. Because of this, many parents, especially among those who are the first child, live with the impression that their babies are always chilled.

Although the association with the cold is more common in cases where the mucous membranes are abundant and watery, there are parents who do not even realize that their babies do not breathe very well because of nasal swallowing.

Colds are not, therefore, the only possible cause of nasal congestion, especially as in their case symptoms such as a clogged nose appear in the second part of the day. The truth is that this may be a medical problem manifested by narrowing the airways.

A doctor can recognize and confirm that this is such a problem, because the child will have difficulty breathing, it will not be able to feed properly and, by default, will not gain weight according to the optimal chart.

Here are some reasons why babies may have a stuffy nose:

1. Fetuses float in the amniotic fluid. Some of this fluid enters the airways during birth, and its removal can take several good days. So, you should not worry too much if your baby has a runny nose in the first few days of life, especially if there are no other symptoms to indicate that it might be a bigger problem.

2. Newborns do not breathe regularly. In fact, they inspire superficially and take breaks, after which they inspire deeper. The moments when they draw more air into the chest can be distressing for their airways, which can be heard as if they are suffering from nasal congestion.

3. In the first months of life, babies regurgitate milk. Although most of the reflux production is eliminated orally, it can also partially pass through the airways, and in such cases nasal congestion may occur.

4. Babies' respiratory pathways, like those of adults, are lined with tiny hairs and have mucus-producing glands inside them to stop the penetration of dust particles and other substances that may be harmful once they reach the lungs. This common process can sometimes produce noises that scare the parents and cause them to believe that the baby's nose is clogged.

5. Babies between 0 and 3 months of age are too young to snore or blow their nose. This makes them even less able to clear their airways. Some of the nasal matter can be removed after sneezing, but it is not effective for perfect decongestion.

6. Babies cannot breathe through the mouth during the first months of life and are required to use their nose exclusively to do so. Because they do not have airways that are too large and developed, their nose may always seem clogged.

This is one of the reasons why doctors prohibit certain drugs to treat newborns. Although they may clear the airways of babies, they can worsen the situation even more after the beneficial effects of the drugs pass.

In addition, they can cause more severe respiratory problems, precisely because babies cannot breathe through their mouths when they cannot breathe through their nose.

Although the solutions for nasal decongestion are numerous and range from seawater to nasal drops, aerosols, baby handkerchiefs or others, doctors recommend that in the first 2-3 months of life all of this should be avoided as far as possible.

As they grow, the children's airways also grow, and breathing becomes easier. In addition, if your baby is feeling well, there is no reason why you should irritate sensitive nasal passages with products for decongestion.

If you worry about it, ask a specialist doctor. He will know how to guide you and talk to you about all the alternatives you have.

How do you know if your child is gifted? The fact that the child is gifted is not easy for families. Because it is necessary to direct this child who is overly curious to learn and who surprised his parents with his questions. Gifted children generally gain some skills earlier than age groups. Some of them can speak and learn to read earlier. They need motivationThe families of children whose intelligence seems brighter than their peers are looking for information about how to support their children. First of all, although the intelligence of the child is a preliminary indicator of success, it is not enough. Success has a lot to do with motivation. It is necessary to open doors for the subjects and interests that excite the child. Here, too, families and trainers do a great job. It is very important to introduce the child to many fields and to discover his / her talents in these fields.Which test can be understood?Children who are thought to be gifted are given a comprehensive intelligence test called WISC-R for academic performance. For this test, the child must be 6 years and 6 months old. Research on gifted children in various countries has shed some light on the educational needs of these children. Liv Hospital Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Exp. Dr. Işılay Altıntaş says: "The isolation of these children from other classmates in other classes did not give a good result. In our country, the results were similar. direction. "How should the family behave? The expectations of many families increase when their children are gifted. This situation has a negative effect on the child after a while. It's not right to make the child feel like you're different from other friends and say things like "you're smarter". Instead, it is necessary to discover which areas it is interested in, direct it, support it, and ensure that it receives appropriate training in the area of interest. Altintas explains the difficulties that these children may encounter in their education life as follows: Genellikle Generally, the most common problem is that a child who learns early is bored in school and has difficulty in distracting himself or even showing some behavioral problems. The issue is that children who have problems related to attention and behavior are attributed to intelligence. This can be a risk. Being intelligent is another behavior problem is another thing. Therefore, it is important to evaluate emotional development separately from mental development and to recognize the problems experienced by the child early. "
