Future mothers do not often pay attention to gingival bleeding and consider it a natural reaction in pregnancy, which does not require special care. In fact, gingival bleeding can endanger pregnancy if not carefully monitored or treated!

Why do they appear during pregnancy?

These bleeds are common in pregnancy for two major reasons:

  • increased progesterone level;

  • blood flow from the gums.

What are the risks?

When pregnant women notice these bleeding they tend to neglect their brushing or to practice it incorrectly, for fear of hurting their gums even more or for fear of pain.

These neglect of oral hygiene leads to a multitude of dental complications and conditions such as pregnancy gingivitis or serious periodontal disease that can affect the fetus.

Gingival bleeding, especially those not closely monitored, is just the first step towards triggering these diseases. Did you know that the first case of death in a newborn was certified because of the septicemia caused by a bacterium belonging to a periodontal disease? The risks are obvious, and attention, monitoring and treatment of these bleeding is essential, before degenerating into more serious diseases.

Pregnancy node or tumor

In addition to bleeding, the gums become soft, swollen and sensitive to touch during pregnancy. You will even notice a small knot on the gum that will bleed rapidly at the time of brushing. You do not have to be very scared, it is benign and painless and it is a natural reaction to the pregnancy. He is also called pregnancy tumor.

It usually disappears after birth, but if you notice changes in it, excessive bleeding, and feelings of discomfort, you need to go to the doctor to excise it. There are extremely rare cases of malignancy.

If you become quite uncomfortable during pregnancy, you can ask your doctor to remove you during pregnancy.

Premature birth

More and more studies have shown a causal link between gingival bleeding (more precisely the diseases that occur after their untreatment) and preterm birth. This would occur against the background of preeclampsia installation.

The small weight of the baby at birth

Another risk, directly related to preterm birth, is the very low weight of the baby at birth. This is associated with a multitude of problems that may arise in the fetus due to insufficient development:

  • respiratory disorders;

  • chronic lung disease;

  • anemia;

  • severe gastroenteritis;

  • hypoglycemia;

  • hypocalcemia;

  • infections.

Treatment and prevention methods

You have to stick to the principle of "better prevention, than treating", because it is much simpler and extremely easy. The treatment of complications caused by gingival bleeding is established with the dentist, but the prevention of their appearances depends only on you:

  • brush your teeth regularly and correctly (even if you notice small bleeding, remember that they are normal in pregnancy);

  • to prevent discomfort from brushing, choose a soft brush and fluoride toothpaste; Aggressive brushing with an improper brush can cause inflammation and injury to the gums;

  • uses after each toothbrush brushing;

  • establish a calendar of visits during your 9 months with your dentist (visits to the dentist during pregnancy are mandatory);

  • adopts a healthy diet: high in vitamin C, calcium and avoids sweets;

  • when brushing is not available you can use chewing gum to remove food debris and avoid infections;

  • attention to the use of other people's cutlery - the mouth cavity is extremely sensitive during pregnancy and exposed to various sources of infection; eat only from clean cutlery and avoid using someone else's to avoid getting bacteria.

Christmas Riddles That Will Test Your Christmas Spirit Part 1

In the last days of the year we all take the opportunity to take stock of everything that has happened in the year and how we have acted in this regard. Have we lived in a conscious way? Have we stopped to reflect on the way we educate children? Have we transmitted values? On all this reflect the following letter to the Magi written by a mother. Do you join the reflection?

Dear wise men,

The end of the year is approaching and it seems that tradition, life or the need to stop invites us to look back and take stock of what has been lived and how it has been lived. It is time to realize, to reflect and to be grateful.

And how do we plan to do all this? First and foremost stopping. Let's not forget that before starting what you have to start, the first thing is to stop, stop and stop. Stopping brings us to the present and in this case, it is a very conscious present looking at what we have lived, with the experience and maturity that the passage of time gives us.

I'll tell you how I do it in case it gives you some ideas:

- Throughout the year, at home, we have been making 'jam of happiness'. What is this and what does it taste like, you may be wondering. It consists of putting in a transparent container, colored pieces of paper on which we have been writing or drawing beautiful situations or anecdotes that we have considered important and that we wanted not to be forgotten.

Before the end of the year, we will read them as a family. And this is a way of realizing, of being aware of what we have lived and of being grateful for the luck of having been able to live it.

- At this time, it also seems that hearts soften more, that generosity and solidarity have more opportunity to knock on our door through activities such as donations, volunteer actions ...

I like to emphasize, be more aware that if during the year those people need our help, at Christmas, because they are the dates they are, they need even more than we can and want to help: making a solidarity purchase , helping in a soup kitchen, spending an afternoon in a home for children without resources… All this can be done all year round. In my house, we not only do it at Christmas, but at this time almost when we enjoy it the most.

- It is also time to give thanks. There are many people who help us and accompany us in our day to day or in our specific needs during the year: grandparents and uncles, school teachers, neighbors, perhaps doctors or specialists in some area who follow us , colleagues and colleagues from work and school ...

And what is the way we want to thank? The truth is that it is valid any day and at any time of the year. But in this Christmas season of soul-searching, we can also take advantage. You can make a craft, a Christmas greeting, some healthy cookies ... and if someone wants, buy a gift. The important thing is that it be done with and from the heart.

- And of course, we also want to order. Ask for myself, for ourselves and for others. Asking and wishing a good year is what we all want, it is what we say to ourselves and wish ourselves right in the first minutes of the beginning of the year. Here each family, often linked to beliefs, asks God for it; And why not, we also ask life, the Universe, energy ... or the will power of each one.

Thank, ask, become aware ... All of this brings us to the present, allows us to realize it, gives us the opportunity to be more alive and to want to continue growing and learning in this life. It is fantastic that our sons and daughters see these values at home, because they will learn them. They learn what they see and not so much what we tell them. Attitude, you learn at home.

Sharing the Christmas season with our children gives us the opportunity to learn with them values and experiences that seem more conducive to these days, although they can really accompany us throughout the coming year.

Happy new year to all and my best wishes for the new year that will begin. I wish you a conscious and positive attitude.

"I associate Children's Day with a sense of uniqueness. When you have four siblings, many things are common and you have to share feelings and objects. On Children's Day there was time for each of us separately and for all of us together. My mother did not blame herself for not passing the puddle, there were going to the playground, to the park, there were sweets and a lot of laughter. And now there are beautiful memories. "
Katrzyna Jórasz

"My childhood was in the 80s and although there were no FIKOLANDS, colorful ice cream and interactive toys at the time, Children's Day was special anyway! I remember when my parents took me to festivities in the park near the Bialystok Zoo, where they sold insanely large cotton candy, delicious crazy lollipops, waffles in the shape of flowers, and wooden and plastic funny toys like Mickey Mouse bouncing on a swing or a little girl's blue rings or pink eye. I remember with affection those times when Children's Day in summer was spent with my parents, and sometimes also with my grandmother, who bought Donald bubble gums at Pewex store ... This is one of the most colorful memories of my childhood! " Marta Janusz

"I am born in '79, which is a child (still) of the People's Republic of Poland. I grew up in strange times. Strange, because despite the fact that there were not many things, nobody really lacked anything. Even on Children's Day! My mother gave me big red lollipops as a gift. Dad got a whole pack of powdered orangeade, which - like every child - I loved eating dry. Grandpa baked me delicious butter cookies with orange peel (he was our family confectioner!), And grandmother? Grandma gave me unique, because of my own production, rag dolls, wool slippers (I loved them!) Or colorful socks, knitted. There were no expensive toys, festivities and lots of guests, and I was the happiest child in the world. " Marta Gawrońska

In the photo - me as an Indian (unknown tribe) and these wonderful socks, which my grandma gave me one June. :) "
