The importance of words in raising our children

Why is it okay to NOT be a perfect mother?

Because it is a campaign that has reached our heart and can not fail to impress anyone, we come up with some additional information than previously presented about the "Children's Heart" Campaign.
Children's hearts deserve a chance!
The "Children's Heart" Association is developing, with the support of Liana Stanciu, a fundraising campaign for the establishment of a cardiosurgery department at the Marie Curie Children's Hospital (Budimex) in Bucharest.
In Romania, 1500 children with congenital heart malformations are born on average every year. Of these, about 1,000 need surgery and treatment, often emergency. In the absence of medical correction, one third of them die before they turn a year old.
In Bucharest, in all the east and south of the country there is no specialized section, and the sections in Targu Mures and Cluj are overloaded.
It is unnatural, complicated and far too expensive to send all sick children for treatment abroad. Sometimes it's impossible! Sometimes it's very urgent!
The "Children's Heart" Association is carrying out, with the support of Lianei Stanciu, a fundraising campaign for the establishment of the first cardiac surgery department in Bucharest dedicated exclusively to children at Marie Curie Hospital (Budimex).
"One of my priorities is to develop a cardiac surgery center for children at European level. Not another one, but at the moment, except for some facilities we have at Targu Mures and good intentions at the CC Iliescu Institute, it is missing. Pediatric cardiac surgery and what we are trying to do with the support of non-governmental associations, both at Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital and Marie Curie Hospital, are praiseworthy initiatives, "said Health Minister Ion Bazac.
At Marie Curie Hospital there is a newly built hospital wing where an operating room and a salon for post-operative intensive care will operate.
The project is initiated by the young and energetic team of Marie Curie Hospital with the support of the hospital management. There are Romanian doctors with high specialization who work abroad and who are willing to come back and work in the country, in this section of cardiac surgery for children.
"They have submitted their letters of intent, they want to come and save lives in Romania. From autumn we want to start operating children here," announces Dr. Catalin Cirstoveanu, project coordinator from Marie Curie Hospital.
The fundraising campaign runs from April 1 to June 30. So far, more than 350,000 Euros have been collected from the minimum amount of 500,000 Euros needed to get started.
Those who want to help I can donate 2 Euro by SMS at 858. The number is offered free of charge by Cosmote, Orange and Vodafone. VAT and Vodafone networks do not charge VAT. Also, there is the possibility to make donations to your account or online on the website of the "Children's Heart" Association. Also on the site, you can find details about the project and the progress of the campaign.
The campaign received from CNA the quality of public interest campaign (decision 4241 from 19.03.2009).
The "Children's Heart" Association is a non-governmental and non-profit association established in January 2006.
The purpose of the Association is to help children with heart problems, especially those with congenital heart defects.
The association provided with medical equipment worth over 480,000 Euro the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Section of the "Niculae Stancioiu" Heart Institute in Cluj where it organized and financially supported 6 humanitarian medical missions.
In addition, the Campaign also benefits from the support of the Sensiblu pharmacy chain which has offered for sale throughout its network "the symbol of healthy hearts". Through the program "Open your heart to children", the pharmacy chain joins the "Children's heart" Campaign for raising funds to equip the surgery section for children with heart disease.

10 things you can do to prepare your child for kindergarten

10 things you can do to prepare your child for kindergarten

Your child is about to start kindergarten soon, but is he ready for that? Are you worried about the moment of separation, even more than he? Well, don't panic - all parents and children have passed or will go through this at some point.

You need a lot of patience, understanding and respect for your child. In the points below you can find some practical "saving" ideas. In addition, we have inserted at some points a series of games and toys, as tools that can help you better prepare your baby for this important moment.
Keep in mind that games and toys are the universe of little ones and they represent almost everything to them.
Here's what you can do:
1. Choose early kindergarten to which you want to register it, whether it is state or private and the type of program (it is better to start with a small program and then switch to a long one, if you can); study the kindergarten site if it has one; it is very important to talk to the kindergarten director and the educator who will take care of your child. Do not be afraid to ask them various questions that you think could help, from the menu, the knowledge that the child must have before starting the kindergarten and the rules of internal order.
2. Schedule a visit to the kindergarten with the child (if the educator agrees, you can participate in certain activities of a small group) - he will meet the educator, with other children, he will be able to see how the other children play and eat. , you will be able to play at the outdoor playground. To familiarize him, you can return to play at the outdoor playground and on other days.
3. Get to know the other parents whose children will be co-workers with your child - you can find out their names and phone numbers from kindergarten - and organize meetings throughout the summer in which the children and you get to know each other. You will be able to see what your child's friends are going to be like, and on the first day of kindergarten the child will not feel lonely and left by his parents, but quietly that he can be together with children he already knows and with whom he will probably be. befriended.
4. Establish a "routine", o series of activities which happens how many times the child leaves home without you or a single parent (in the park with his grandmother or grandparents, with friends, for various activities such as swimming or dance lessons, with grandparents on vacation): hugs, kisses , good-bye words and assurances that you will miss him and that you will see you again soon, as soon as he finishes the activity and returns home. The same thing will happen in kindergarten.
Useful games and toys: themed story books, puzzles with family members, dolls and dollhouses.
5. Establish the same "routine", with a series of activities that happen as many times as the parents leave home and the child stays in the care of the grandmother or grandmother. Do not forget the assurances that you will see you soon, as soon as you finish your service or shopping and return home. Specify the moment when you will return and try to keep your word - tell him that you will return after waking up in the afternoon or before dinner or drinking - for the child it is easier to "locate" in time these moments only an hour. Use the same games and useful toys as above.
6. Teach him to do it alone and be tidy . At the kindergarten the educator will not have time to dress and undress all the children in the group when they are preparing to go out or go to the theater, so it will be important for him to be able to dress his clothes alone, to know where his things are, to tie his laces. This way he will not be frustrated to wait for help when he comes, but he will be proud that he can do these things with his own powers - he will surely be noticed by educators and colleagues. Also at home, teach him to put things in their place, put his backpack in the closet when he returns from outside and check if he is ready for the next departure, to gather his toys after the play is over.
All these activities will also happen in kindergarten.
Useful games and toys: puzzles with clothing, plush toys / dolls that can be dressed, shoeed, combed, sorted toys, stacked bricks.

Useful notions for the child in kindergarten

7. Playing, try to learn as much as possible things they could use in kindergarten . The more you know, the better you will feel at school and in the community and it will be easier for you:
• Invite him the alphabet and instill his love for her reading. Useful toys for this activity are large letters of wood, cardboard or plastic (puzzles), letter trains, coloring books, literacy, cubes. Do not use small letters with magnets if your child has not reached the age of 3 - they can be dangerous to him. Read them stories every night - you can find stories about kindergarten. Play by sending letters and try to "read" what you wrote to each other.
• Invite him mathematical notions basic: numbers from 1 to 9, number from 1 to 10, address where he lives, including the number of the block and apartment / house, the home phone number, his age, the geometric shapes to be sorted, read the registration plates of the cars.
Useful games and toys: calendar - find an important event for him, such as going on vacation or the day when the kindergarten begins and count together the days that remain; domino with dots; simple dice games; find for any occasion things that can be numbered: cars or dolls, books, how many bites can be eaten a banana, how many steps can climb the ladder; geometric form of sorting; counts; growth charts with nice drawings to measure their height.
Hygiene concepts, such as hand washing before meals and teeth every morning and evening.
Useful games and toys: toys that can be washed, dolls that can be washed on the hands and then taken to the "table", funny containers to keep their toothbrush and paste.
• Put them on the music for children when playing, train him to dance - sing and dance together, help him discover the sounds.
Useful games and toys: xylophones and other musical instruments for children, CDs with songs for children, karaoke games.
Physical training: Encourage him to learn to ride a tricycle / bicycle, move different parts of his body on order, go out in the park, playgrounds or swim.
Useful games and toys: scooters, tricycles, bicycles, songs whose text causes movement of parts of the body, ball, badminton / golf sets for children, bowls for children.
Arts and skills. Teach him the colors, teach him to hold the colored pencils or other writing tools properly - pay close attention to this fact, because if he gets used to holding the wrong writing tools, he will get very used to it.
Teach him to model plasticine, make an exhibition of drawings at home, compose various collages.
Useful games and toys: templates, plasticine, writing and coloring tools, watercolors, puzzles, washable drawing objects, art or ballet studios, knee games - "build yourself ..." or "decorate yourself ...". Attention, even if at first you do not understand anything in his drawings, for the child they always mean something - ask him to explain what he has drawn and do not be surprised if a simple line means for him a steamer or a car.
science. Even if it sounds pretentious, the child can receive from you the first notions related to botany and zoology, anatomy, geography, astrology, physics, etc.
Teach him the parts of the human body, the parts of the body of animals and birds, the parts of plants, celestial stars, the forms of relief, how to take care of nature.
Useful games and toys: puzzles with different themes, bathroom stickers with various themes, cars, airplanes and boats (why do they fly, why do they float?), children's encyclopedias.
Rules of behavior in society. Teach him the greeting according to the times of the day, teach him to eat properly with cutlery, teach him to respect the traffic signs, to thank when he receives something, to politely ask for something, to wait his turn.
Useful games and toys: themed puzzles, themed books, games with traffic signs, story books, let's play games ... let's play games, kitchen sets, play sets for various events such as birthdays.
8. Invite him be careful and focus . Read him stories and see if he can be careful for 10 or 15 minutes (do not try to force him to exceed this threshold - at his age it already means a lot). Draw, paint, play with an alphabet (avoid looking at the TV) and see if you can focus on the respective activity.
Useful games and toys: any game or toy is welcome - the newer and more interesting the more successful it will be; you can try puzzles with several pieces, but large.
9. Invite him to be responsible . Train him in daily activities - ask him to help you with various small tasks: cooking - he can wash fruits or vegetables, mix different ingredients; to clean - to mature or to help you remove dust; shopping - to put in the things bought; to help you care for your pets.
10. Motivates him - it will not be easy - motivation is an "art". It is normal to be scared of kindergarten and his fear can manifest itself in different ways - try to understand him and explain to him that going to kindergarten does not mean parting with you, but on the contrary, as you go to work every day, he will start going to his "service", which means kindergarten - so here's what he can do, which is so small. He calls for various tricks when the day of "separation" is approaching: for example, he plays an interesting game with the other family members - he will certainly want to join the game, but explain to him that it is a game he does not play. I can only play the kids who are already in kindergarten - as soon as he starts to walk (and there are only a few days until then), you will be able to play that game with him. Surely he wants the kindergarten to start as soon as possible.
Be careful, do not forget to play the game together with it after starting kindergarten, otherwise you will lose credibility.
Remember that anything is learned more easily through the game - it is also valid for adults.
What is really important is that whatever you do, do with and out of pleasure and respect for your child.

Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) is the daughter of the chief of a beautiful Polynesian island. Moana loves the water and wants to explore the ocean, but her father (Temuera Morrison) tells her that she must stay on the island and become a great leader of their people.

But their island begins to die. Moana's grandmother (Rachel House) reveals the secret of their ancestors, and Moana sets out on a journey to find the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) and save her people.

Special note
A short movie called Inner Workings is being shown with Moana. It's a silent Disney animation that shows the bodily functions of a man named Paul as he goes about his day. It contains a small amount of toilet humour, references to Paul dying (scenes show his grave), images of a woman with a large bottom, and scenes that show Paul flirting with the woman.

Death; separation from a parent; natural disasters (the island begins to die); fantasy and mythical themes including gods and monsters

Moana has some violence. For example:

  • There's a running joke that involves Maui pushing Moana off a boat.
  • Little coconut pirate monsters attack Maui and Moana with arrows, spears and poison darts.
  • Maui and Moana fight a lava monster. The monster attacks them with fire balls, and Maui attacks the lava monster with his fish hook. Eventually they resolve their conflict peacefully.
  • Tamatoa, a giant hermit crab, tries to catch and eat Maui and Moana.

Content that may disturb children

Under 5
In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, Moana has some scenes that could scare or disturb children under five years. For example:

  • Because Maui stole the heart of the islands, the islands begin to die. They turn black and start to crumble.
  • The lava monster is likely to scare young children. It's a large monster made of lava and fire.
  • Maui is a mischievous demigod, who has the power to transform into other creatures with his fish hook. In the opening sequence Maui might scare young children, but we eventually learn that he's friendly.
  • A Polynesian man is shown getting a painful tattoo. Additionally, most of the men in the movie have tattoos (because it's part of their culture). Maui gets a tattoo to commemorate every adventure he has.
  • When Moana suggests that she should leave the island, her father gets angry and shouts at her.
  • A flashback scene shows the chief's friend drowning.
  • There are a few scary scenes when Moana is sailing and almost drowns or is caught is a big thunderstorm.
  • Moana's grandmother dies. This scene might be emotional for some children. The grandmother is reincarnated as a ray fish and guides Moana in the ocean. Later the grandmother appears as a ghost to help Moana believe in herself.
  • Maui makes a joke about human sacrifice.
  • Maui and Moana go to the realm of monsters and meet Tamatoa, a giant hermit crab. Tamatoa might scare young children.
  • Maui reveals that his human parents didn't want him so they threw him into the ocean, where the gods found and rescued him.

From 5-8
Children in this age group might also be disturbed or scared by some of the scenes mentioned above.

From 8-13
Some younger children in this age group might be disturbed by some of the scenes mentioned above.

Over 13
Nothing of concern

Sexual references

Moana has some sexual references. For example, a boy winks at Moana.

Alcohol, drugs and other substances

None of concern

Nudity and sexual activity

None of concern

Product placement

There is no product placement of concern in Moana itself. But Moana is a Disney movie, and plenty of Disney merchandise associated with the movie is being marketed to children.

Coarse language

There is some mild coarse language in Moana.

Ideas to discuss with your children

Moana is an inspiring animated adventure musical about a Polynesian girl learning to follow her dreams and stand up for herself. This movie might inspire children to learn more about Polynesian myths and culture. Additionally, Moana the character is a good role model for girls as she shows leadership skills, strength and independence.

Moana isn't suitable for children under the age of 8 years. We recommend parental guidance for children aged up to 10 years because of the movie's violent and scary scenes.

The main messages from this movie are to follow your dreams and be true to yourself.

Values in this movie that you could reinforce with your children include bravery, perseverance and teamwork.

This movie could give you the chance to talk with your children about the real-life consequences of running away. You could also talk about ways of dealing with grief after the death of a loved one, like Moana's grandmother.

School is necessarily frustrating

School is necessarily frustrating

He is afraid of water, how to reassure him?

These holidays to the sea, you dreamed. But instead of enjoying dabbling with you, your child seems terrified by the water.

The problem

One foot is fine, but as soon as the water comes to the waist, your toddler starts screaming despite all your encouragement. And the slightest splash causes a crisis of tears.

Who disturbs it?

  • You. You are confronted with the refusal of your child and your family swimming plans fall into the water! You fear that he never likes to swim.
  • Your child. When he sees you go in the water, swim, he would like to join you but his fear slows him down. It deprives itself of the pleasure of the water and games shared with you.

This new element scares him?

He agrees to enter the water in your arms but clings to your neck and tries to pull himself above the surface. Difficult indeed for your little earthly, just at ease on the mainland, to find a new balance in this element.

  • What has to be done. Wrap it in your arms over the water. Play with the surface of the water: caress it, pat it, in a game shared with it ... Draw attention to a ball or a toy that floats. Avoid splashing it.
  • What to tell him. Tell him stories to stimulate his curiosity: "Look, the boat is sliding on the water, do you want to help it go faster?" There are also very good books on the sea for children.

He had a bad experience with water?

Surprised by a wave, he drank the cup. It is necessary to put it back in confidence.

  • What has to be done. Offer him some mouth games. Make sounds under water, sing, talk with your mouth in the water. Blow in the water, make bubbles.
  • What to tell him. "If you put your head under the water, quietly, of yourself, by reflex the glottis in your throat hangs so you can not swallow water", "It's like the whale blowing from the water on the surface? "
