Tetanus in Infants and Children
Tetanus is an infection of the nervous system caused by the bacterium Clostridium tetani, which it's life threatening. It is transmitted if the child comes into contact with an infected surface. Never from one person to another.
For most doctors, the best way to avoid getting tetanus is the diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine.
Babies and children can get tetanus when they fall to the ground or come in contact with a surface that contains spores of the bacterium Clostridium tetani.
The time between infection and the first sign of symptoms is usually 7 to 21 days, and the most common way for infection to enter the body is through a puncture wound, cut, sore, or animal bite; that when the spores are introduced, bacteria are released that spread and produce a poison called tetanospasmin. This poison blocks the nerve signals from the spinal cord to the muscles causing severe muscle spasms.
Tetanus usually begins with a headache, jaw cramps, and sudden, involuntary muscle spasms. The spasms can affect the chest, neck, back, and abdominal muscles. And they can even affect the muscles that help you breathe.
Other symptoms may be drooling, excessive sweating, fever, hand or foot spasms, irritability, difficulty swallowing, urination or uncontrollable defecation.
Depending on how long it has been since the infection, the treatment may include antibiotics, drugs to neutralize the poison, muscle relaxants, sedatives and, the most recommended to eliminate any trace: surgery to clean the wound and eliminate the source of the poison.
Having contracted tetanus does not protect against a new infection, so it is very important to receive the full doses of vaccination.
The best way to avoid tetanus is to get all the necessary vaccinations during childhood. The first three during the first year of life (at 2, 4 and 6 months), another between 15 and 18 months and the penultimate at 6 years and the last at 11 or 12 years. There are doctors who recommend one dose every decade once they reach 19 years of age, but it is not required.
It is a safe vaccine and with very few cases of children who have suffered side effects, but if there were, the most common are: redness, inflammation and pain at the site where the vaccination occurred, vomiting and fever.

My Daughter GETS A TETANUS SHOT. Dr. Paul
A truly successful gift needs an essential component to focus on before giving it to someone you love. It is about an impeccable look, which makes the difference between a good gift and an exceptional one. Because you can't always call on the help of someone skilled in this art, learn how to pack gifts as a professional right now.
Even the most symbolic and small "attentions" can be infinitely more valuable in a precious package. The correct wrapping of gifts also has a set of rules to follow, if you want to arouse enthusiastic reactions from the recipients.
Before you start, keep in mind three main aspects, which depends on the aesthetic success of the effort you make:
- make sure the adhesive tape is not visible;
- always bend the cut edges inside;
- keeps the paper perfectly stretched, with the edges and corners in the best shape;
Also, paper measurement is very important. The lack of excess material makes the product easier to pack and more aesthetically pleasing for an elegant result.
First, wrap the special object in a delicate paper and place it in the cardboard box. Spread the paper lengthwise, place the gift in the middle and cut the sides until they are slightly longer than the height of the box. Make sure you trim the cut edges, bending them inward.
Wrap the paper around the gift, gently pressing on the edges until it folds perfectly on the edges of the box. At each end, bend the ends of the wrapping paper until a trapezoid is formed on each side.
After you have done these steps properly, glue the corners inside with double adhesive tape.
The last details
Now that you've got a flawless shape of the gift, focus on some accents meant to beautify the look of the package.
The most recommended option is the classic bead, which you can make yourself from a ribbon purchased from the haberdashery. Before cutting the strip of material, wrap it once along the length of the box. Mark the end by pressing with one finger and make the same movement over the width of the gift.
Turn the pack face up and make a medium-sized sling, taking care to tighten the middle knot as best as you can. Only now you can cut the ends of the bottom, for a perfect look.
Other variants are details made of paper or other materials, special covers that are applied directly on the packaging, etc.
